Perth's Specialist in Quality and Customised
HI, I’M CAMERON, MANAGING DIRECTOR AND FOUNDER OF SMART STYLE BATHROOMS SINCE FEBRUARY 2008.
I’m 36 years old, married to the beautiful Caitlin and enjoy mountain biking, kayaking and motor-biking.
From a youngster, I’ve worked in the building industry – spending school holidays on building sites, upgrading the family home and undertaking an apprenticeship as a wall-and-floor tiler, focusing on new homes.
All of my early experience was a bit of an eye opener on how some companies operated with such poor standards, ethics and service.
So I jumped at the chance to work for a craftsman who specialised in bathrooms and kitchens and loved to impart his wealth of knowledge on me, particularly, that bathrooms require nearly as many trades as building a new home. Also, it’s a rare breed of tradespeople who can deliver a high-quality product with great customer service – knowing how to delicately work in peoples’ homes with cleanliness, excellent communication and efficiency.
Soon after, I was running my own team, remaining actively involved in the work, and also renovating my first home. I turned a 1950s asbestos war service home into a 1920s replica weatherboard cottage complete with French doors, lead light windows and feature timber fretwork throughout. It sold like hotcakes and broke the suburb record!
I guess you could say that when I’m not renovating I am…renovating! Smart Style was born out of a small team with countless renovations behind them, boundless enthusiasm and a dream to offer an unmatched level of quality, efficiency and happy clients throughout Perth, which remains the vision today – just with a growing team that has now renovated well over 1000 bathrooms, laundries, toilets and kitchens for a lot of happy home owners.
We have experienced a multitude of change in trends, designs, products, technologies and market conditions and actively seek feedback from our customers to keep evolving and serve you better, while heavily investing in behind-the-scenes technologies such as 3D imaging so you can see your complete renovation before we even start construction.
I am lucky to have some of the best team members known in the industry, who share the same vision and have been with us from day one. I hope we can be the company you choose to work with to create your smart and stylish bathroom!
You can select products from the comfort of your own home and experience a great peace of mind
as our interior designers will come to you to see the unique size, shape and natural light signature
of your renovating space.
Caitlin Interior DesignerCaitlin is an award-winning interior designer, heads up the design team at Smart Style Bathrooms and is the beautiful wife to Cameron.
Design was a natural progression for Caitlin since meeting Cameron, she holds a diploma in Interior Design and continues to develop a passion for all of the creative style it offers. She enjoys being involved in a project from conception to completion and is often out on the road, visiting our work sites.
There is not a day that goes by when Caitlin isn’t thinking and dreaming about design. She works in all different styles but is drawn to mid-century modern and is often seen browsing vintage stores in Perth and overseas. Caitlin loves the in-home consultation process with our clients as it allows her to get the best sense of your style and space so she can draw from that to create a unique and stylish renovation that complements your home. She has produced some stunning work over the years with a focus on coastal and Hamptons with a heritage twist, that perfectly suits our West Australian lifestyle.
Caitlin is also responsible for marketing and public relations, and regularly posts our recent projects and design inspiration on our social media.
Sarah-JaneInterior Designer Sarah-Jane has loved design from an early age; from begging her parents to take her to Bunnings so she could expand her paint chip collection to telling everyone she knew that she was going to ‘make buildings’ when she was older after constructing a particularly large sandcastle on a sunny day at the beach.
Sarah-Jane is an interior designer who completed her Bachelor of Applied Science (Interior Architecture) with honours in 2017, where discovered her passion for residential design. Throughout her degree she explored the human experience within interior spaces and took a strong focus on how design can be used to change inhabitants’ lives.
In early 2017 she undertook an internship in HASSELL’s Shanghai office which helped to develop her design skills and understanding of project management. She had been working in the Perth industry for a little over 2 years before joining the Smart Style team and has been involved in all stages of the design process across a wide range of sectors including; residential, hospitality, health care and mining camp design.
Sarah-Jane’s attention to detail, understanding of design theory and technical skills make her a standout designer. She is passionate about finding design solutions to turn your project into the most functional, beautiful space it can be!
From our office to onsite, you can rest assure you’re in the hands of a very experienced, friendly and hard-working team, who have all be hand-selected through a rigorous recruitment process to bring your renovation dream to life.
LynneAdministratorStudiously working behind the scenes to ensure our finance and processing and day-to-day running of projects are all in order is our vibrant administrator Lynne.
Born in South Africa and starting out in banking, Lynne’s flexible and eager approach saw her taking up a position in trading before moving to England where she lived for eight years, got married, had twin girls and worked for a print management company in administration and account management of companies such retailer JD Sports.
In 2010, as most do, Lynne and her family relocated to Australia for its incredible weather and relaxed lifestyle and joined the Smart Style team four years later.
Lynne comes with first-hand renovating and building experience. Together with her qualified quantity surveyor husband, they updated the kitchen and bathroom in their English home and built their new family home in Perth.
She will go above and beyond to help get the job done and says her dedication to Smart Style has been further inspired by witnessing its trustworthy and professional leadership that’s focused on producing a firstclass finish on every project.
Lynne enjoys unwinding with a good TV series such as Call the Midwife, Game of Thrones and police dramas.
CandaceAdministratorOur Administrator Candace brings with her a wealth of worldly knowledge and works in the Studio organising Smart Style Bathrooms daily operations.
In search of different worldly experiences, Candace set out on the traditional European backpacker adventure at the age of 20. After living and working in London in various hospitality and administrative roles, as well as aboard an Alaskan-turned-Caribbean cruise ship, a working holiday was the next part of the journey to experience in the land down under.
Arriving in Sydney with just a backpack and her then boyfriend, now husband, the real journey began finding her love of Australian culture and its people prompting her to work hard in order to become Aussie herself, albeit with an accent!
Candace has a vast experience in renovations, working in the industry for many years and ensures our day to day operations run smoothly. She can be seen managing our project management software, finance and providing a supporting role to our Smart Style team.
These days, Candace is a self-confessed “volunteer queen” running the school banking program at her boys’ school, is an active member of the P&C and has recently discovered her love of AFL, volunteering her time to be involved with the local club as well. Most weekends are spent catching up with friends, or camping, but always with a cheeky glass of wine (or two)!
ScottSupervisor Our supervisor Scott is known for his incredibly supportive and approachable manner in liaising between the Smart Style team and our clients.
Scott thrives on multi-tasking the demands of your renovation. He has the practical building experience to make sure that what you want is carefully translated into ‘trade language’ so that you’re 100 per cent satisfied with the end result.
Completing a double degree in tourism and marketing at Murdoch University, Scott worked for a five-star hotel before moving into commercial gyprocking, followed by carpentry for a company that focused on home renovations. He has also undertaken a HIA supervisor’s course that has strengthened his ability to direct every trade required to build and renovate an entire house – from modern constructions to delicate heritage homes.
Scott joined the Smart Style team in 2011 and likes the variety renovating brings to his daily life, its problem-solving nature and overseeing every onsite aspect of the process. His key advice for new renovators is to know that unplanned and different issues will arise with every renovation but leave it to the professionals to work out how to fix it, homeowners do not need to worry!
Scott speaks fluent Spanish, enjoys playing golf and walking his dog, Amigo.
KieranSupervisor Kieran has been an integral member of the Smart Style team and has moved into one of our Supervisor roles due to his knowledge and array of experience to the team.
He has completed his fitter-welder apprenticeship in his home country New Zealand, helped construct a timber mill while working on a WA farm and spent three years in installation. One of his key strengths has been learning quickly on each job he has embraced.
Kieran enjoys the different challenges Smart Style offers across every renovation and being face to face with clients. “If clients ask a question while we’re working, we’re able to give them an answer. We all treat their home like our own, if we wouldn’t be happy with it being in our place then we wouldn’t do it in their home”. His love of rugby union isn’t surprising with his NZ roots but when he’s not on a Smart Style renovation site he also loves spending time with his young son.
AlexPlumber and gasfitter Alex is our fully licensed plumber and gasfitter who is our resident sports nut.
He completed his plumbing apprenticeship in 2004, and then completed his plumbing contractors license in 2009 and has experience in a wide range of plumbing. Prior to joining Smart Style, he was a sole trader for 10 years, focusing on bathroom renovations, general plumbing and whatever else was thrown his way.
During those 10 years life dealt his family a rough time, with his wife and son battling cancer 3 times between them, however Alex believes this has made him a more compassionate person that listens to everyone with an open mind and this has carried over into his work.
He prides himself on leaving a smile on the clients face, whether through good communication while on the job, leaving the job tidy, performing the work to a high standard, or his average singing. A good experience for the client is his main focus.
In his spare time you’ll find him on the golf course, coaching his sons football team or having a drink at his local.
JonPlumber Jon joined the Smart Style team as a fully licenced plumber and has a fastidious nature and strong work ethic.
After completing his plumber’s apprenticeship in 2007, he joined forces with a friend to start a plumbing company that focused on unit developments.
Jon also gained FIFO experience, which broadened his idea of the professional tradesman industry in WA but eventually turned back to the plumber’s life in Perth after opting for more family time. In 2014, Jon felt refreshed getting back into the trade he meticulously trained and worked in – dedicated plumbing – this time on new housing and renovations.
Jon’s hands-on approach in completing your bathroom to Smart Style’s high-quality workmanship guarantee and easy-going manner combined with an in-depth understanding of Australian standards and his out-of-the box problem solving ensures he will confidently direct your renovation so you won’t have anything to worry about.
He recharges on weekends by doing ‘anything outdoors’ such as mountain biking and scuba diving or taking his two young daughters to the local park.
MarkLabourerMark boasts a variety of professional skills – as he puts it: “I’ve done a bit of everything”.
From construction, manufacturing and warehousing to imports and exports, and being a certified fumigator, he is also a qualified chef – a helpful hint for when you meet him onsite during your renovation! Born in Darwin, raised in country NSW, and having lived in both Perth and Sydney, it was Perth that drew him back five years ago to begin renovation work before joining the Smart Style team. He enjoys working alongside others, the physicality of the industry and thrives on watching a renovation from demolition through to completion. This also extends to his personal life: “I like reading but I don’t really stick to one author, I like to change it up and I’m a bit stubborn – even if I don’t like it, I’ll read it until the end”.
PetePlumber and labourerPete has been a plumber for seven years now and has previously done 3.5 years as a supervisor before turning his hand to being back on the tools.
Since starting with Smart Style Bathrooms, Pete has expanded his skills ten fold from not only plumbing but also ranging from demolition of bathrooms to the finishing touches and everything in between. Pete is also a family man and is married with two girls, but also enjoys playing golf and socialising around his busy schedule.
AidenCarpenterAiden gained his carpentry qualifications at the age of 19 and has worked on every type of construction from humble homes to million-dollar mansions, renovations and businesses.
Born and raised down in WA’s stunning south coast getaway region, Aiden moved to Perth city to expand his carpentry business. However, with his dedication to the building industry, his skills extend beyond carpentry alone. An allrounder, Aiden is able to help out on renovations as the needs arise including brick work, tiling and concreting among other experience. “Smart Style is a good team of people to work with, and it’s challenging work. I enjoy talking to clients and discussing the job with them. I like to be hands-on and walk away from a renovation feeling proud of how it’s turned out.” Taking time out from city life, Aiden likes to regularly head down south to see his family, dive and fish.
