"I never planned on running my own renovation company. I was employed as a tiler for a number of years with numerous companies – I must have worked on over 200 bathrooms by now!"
I loved the work and took great personal pride in the end result. I remember completing my first renovation at a home in Bassendean – it was a great feeling to stand back and admire the wonderful new bathroom I had built.
But I began to get frustrated. I saw too many customers left unhappy because no one had taken the time to listen to what they actually needed, or to explain the renovation process. It didn’t seem fair to me how much customers were being overcharged for relatively simple jobs, just because they didn’t know any better. It annoyed me to see colleagues cut corners because they were juggling too many projects at once.
The more I talked to customers the more I realized just how difficult they found the renovation process – and I could understand why.
I find that I am able to delight customers simply by listening to what they need and helping them understand the process involved. Being a small business with low overheads and a fair pricing structure means I can offer a very economical renovation.
By focusing on one customer at a time I am able to consistently bring personal care and pride to each and every project, whilst still achieving a quick turnaround.

I don’t dream of Smart Style becoming a big company, I just want it to be a GOOD company. I want my customers to feel comfortable through the whole process, and I want them to save as much money as possible. But most of all I want to be able to look at every Smart Style bathroom with the same pride as that first job in Bassendean.
